An industrial attachment (internship) can serve as a major advantage for someone entering the aviation/aerospace industry. It provides real-world experience, allowing a student to apply classroom knowledge to practical situations. This can solidify understanding of aviation concepts, provide exposure to different career paths and help develop valuable professional skills that impress potential employers after graduation.
Students enrolled in the B.S. in Aeronautics, B.S. in Aviation Business Administration, B.S. in Business Analytics and B.S. in Engineering at ERAU-AI are required to complete an industrial attachment (internship) during the final year of study. Internships range from three to six months and require a minimum of 300 hours. Students successfully completing all the requirements of the internship and associated course module (COIN 496 – Cooperative Education) will receive three credits toward fulfilling the degree requirements.
The Office of Career Services is available to assist students in securing an internship, or if a student has secured their own, work with the employer to complete the necessary paperwork. Academic advisors will help students prepare for COIN 496, and in instances where a substitution might be appropriate, work with the Academics Department.
